Inês Jacques
founder of Ballerina Body® and The Knowing Body
I've been a dancer and choreographer for over 25 years. I still work as an artistic director of performance companies. I studied dance and several body techniques, including Corrective Movement and Fighting Monkey. I am a certified teacher of Pilates, Yoga, OA®, DNS, PBT, Kinesiological Stretching, and others. I was the Body and Movement Dept's Coordinator-teacher at a theatre school for 10 years.
I'm a permanent student, and I do care about people. My professional path started purely as an artistic dancer, choreographer, and singer, and over the years, my interest in the body and the healthiest way to move it has developed.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that working with the body goes far beyond form or technique.
Much of the tension we feel doesn’t stem from a lack of flexibility or strength — but from a nervous system that’s constantly on high alert.
Today, my work integrates movement, breath, and awareness, creating a space where the body can finally relax, reorganize itself, and gain greater freedom.
10 years of Ballerina Body Method
Ballerina Body® was built on over 25 years of studies combined with professional own-body and hands-on experience. Inês has developed a global approach based on various body techniques, including ballet, pilates, floor barre, yoga, modern dance, and rehabilitation techniques. The approach focuses on correcting movement patterns, muscle strengthening, and flexibility improvement.
The basis of the relationship between the body techniques is to use what they have best to offer to the condition of each body, challenging and respecting it simultaneously. Not all exercises are good for every body. :)
Ballerina Body® anchors on this flexibility of thought to seek better ways to better bodies and better lives.
